Clonbur lies on the peninsula between Loughs Corrib and Mask, on the Galway/Mayo border, at the eastern entrance to Connemara. Clonbur is just 10 minutes drive in a westerly direction from Ashford Castle, Cong and 12 minutes from Balinrobe. It is a 45 minutes drive north from Galway city & can easily be reached by car in less than 40 minutes from Claremorris, Westport and Castlebar in Co Mayo and from Leenane and Clifden in Connemara.
Getting here has never been easier with Knock (Ireland West) and Galway Airports only 45 minutes away by car. Shannon Airport is about a 2 hour drive. Dublin is approximately a 4 hour drive.
There is daily public bus service from Galway to nearby Balinrobe and Cong.
Clonbur is surrounded by the Connemara mountain ranges of the Maamturks and the twelve Bens (12 Pins or Beanna Beola). Nearby Mount Gable offers the visitor who likes an easy climb a panoramic view of breath-taking beauty. The effort to reach the summit is worthwhile because the views of Lough Corrib, stretching away to the south, Lough Mask to the north and the Connemara mountains to the west, are simply breathtaking.
